Amazon shows its full review list only to signed-in customers: the review pages answer a signed-out visitor with the sign-in page. What a product page shows without login is a public slice - the overall rating and review count, the 1-5 star histogram, the AI-generated Customers say summary and the top reviews - and that slice is what this plugin returns. Give it an ASIN with a marketplace, or a product URL, and it returns the rating, the total review count, the share of each star, the Customers say summary with each aspect's sentiment, mention counts and the review quotes Amazon shows for it, and the top reviews, typically 5 to 13, local ones first and then reviews from other countries, each with author, rating, title, text, date and country, the verified-purchase flag, helpful votes, the variant and images. When Amazon puts a sign-in prompt in place of the top reviews, which is common on amazon.com, reviewsGated is true and reviews is empty, while the rating, histogram and Customers say data still come back. It is not an export of every review a product has.

What you can extract

  • Product title, overall star rating and the total review count
  • The 1-5 star histogram as a share per star
  • Amazon's AI Customers say summary, with each aspect's sentiment, mention counts and summary
  • The review quotes Amazon shows for each aspect, with the review id and link
  • The top reviews Amazon shows signed-out visitors, typically 5 to 13: author, rating, title, text, date, country and language
  • Verified-purchase flag, helpful votes, the product variant and review images
  • reviewsGated: true when Amazon shows a sign-in prompt in place of the top reviews

/marketplace/amazon-reviews

Amazon product reviews

The review data a product page shows signed-out visitors, by ASIN (with marketplace) or product URL: title, rating, reviewCount, histogram (percent per star), customersSay (summary and aspects with sentiment, mentions, positive, negative, summary and excerpts) and the top reviews (id, url, author, rating, title, body, date, country, fromOtherCountry, verified, helpfulVotes, variant, images). reviewsGated is true when Amazon shows a sign-in prompt in place of the top reviews. Any of the 20 regional marketplaces; proxy_country defaults to the marketplace's home country.

How to scrape it

curl -X POST \
  -H "X-ScrapeUnblocker-Key: $SU_API_KEY" \
  "https://api.scrapeunblocker.com/marketplace/amazon-reviews?asin=B07PXGQC1Q&marketplace=amazon.com"
import requests

resp = requests.post(
    "https://api.scrapeunblocker.com/marketplace/amazon-reviews",
    headers={"X-ScrapeUnblocker-Key": SU_API_KEY},
    params={"asin": "B07PXGQC1Q", "marketplace": "amazon.com"},
)
print(resp.text)
import { ScrapeUnblockerClient } from 'scrapeunblocker';

const su = new ScrapeUnblockerClient({ apiKey: process.env.SU_API_KEY });

const results = await su.amazonReviews({
  asin: 'B07PXGQC1Q',
  marketplace: 'amazon.com',
});
console.log(results);

Requests are POST and take their parameters in the query string. Browser rendering always happens - there is no flag to enable.

Frequently asked questions

Is it legal to scrape Amazon reviews?

Collecting publicly available review data - ratings, the star histogram and the review text a product page shows - is lawful in many jurisdictions, but the rules depend on your country, the data you collect and how you use it. Reviewer names and review text can be personal data, and reviews are copyrighted, so follow the rules that apply to you. ScrapeUnblocker returns the public product page data; what you collect and how you use it is your decision.

How do I scrape Amazon reviews without getting blocked?

Amazon runs its own bot detection and answers traffic it does not trust with a captcha page. The /marketplace/amazon-reviews plugin reads the product page without a browser, over fresh exits in the marketplace's home country, treats Amazon's captcha page as a miss and tries another exit; only a last round may use a real browser, which is also how an unknown ASIN is recognized as Amazon's own 404. In ScrapeUnblocker's benchmark it returned the review data on 98.3% of 1,074 calls with different products and marketplaces, about 4.5s per call.

Do I get every review a product has?

No. Amazon only lists every review to signed-in customers, so the plugin returns the public slice on the product page: the rating, the total review count, the star histogram, the Customers say summary with its quotes, and the top reviews, typically 5 to 13, local ones first and then reviews from other countries. When Amazon puts a sign-in prompt in place of the top reviews, which is common on amazon.com, reviewsGated is true and reviews is empty; the rating, histogram and Customers say data, including its quotes, still come back.

What is in the Customers say data?

Customers say is Amazon's AI-generated summary of a product's reviews. The plugin returns the overall summary and each aspect Amazon lists, such as quality, sound or fit, with its sentiment (positive, negative or mixed), the number of reviews that mention it, how many of those are positive and negative, a short summary and the review quotes Amazon shows for it, each with the review id and a link to the review. A product Amazon shows no Customers say for returns null.

Can I get reviews from other Amazon marketplaces?

Yes. Pass marketplace with any of the 20 regional sites, such as amazon.co.uk, amazon.de or amazon.co.jp, or paste a product URL from that site. The reviews come from that store, and each review says which country it was written in and whether it is one of the reviews from other countries that Amazon adds after the local ones. The request exits from the marketplace's home country by default.

How much does it cost to scrape Amazon reviews?

Each call is one request: one product, with its rating, histogram, Customers say data and top reviews. 1 request = 1 credit, EUR 1.00 per 1,000 on pay as you go, down to about EUR 0.55 per 1,000 on the Ultimate plan. Blocks and timeouts are not billed, and the free trial includes 500 requests with no card.
